Beauty Junkie!

Hi, I am Veronica and I like all things pretty. I aspire to be make up artiste and I love experimenting and playing around with any cosmetics I can find.

I share whatever I know or knowledge that I have acquired about skincare and make-up. I am no expert in this field and if in doubt, do seek professional advice.

I hope you will love my blog and follow me on tumblr!

Lots of <3,

Above is the photo of my TOP 3 moisturizers. Starting from left to right: Clarins Ultra-Matte Rebalancing Lotion, Clinique anti-blemish solutions, Biotherm Aquasource Aqua Perfector (sample size)

In sunny Singapore, most of us ladies have the concern of oily skin and this causes breakouts to happen on our face ever so often.

Let’s me start off with Clarins Moisturizer. I started using it last year because I wanted something that was moisturizing and yet it won’t cost me a bomb and can control oil as I was kinda tight on budget. I know Clarins is a high end product but i’ve tried brands like Nivea, Loreal and Gariner and it makes me breakout pretty badly.

Anyways, I bought this moisturizer for over SGD$50, can’t remember the exact amount. This moisturizer gives good hydration and it keeps my face matte pretty much the whole day. However, the smell of the moisturizer takes a little getting used to but I’m fine with it because it makes me feel that i’m rubbing great herbal stuff on my face.

The next moisturizer is the Clinique one. Reason why I switched my moisturizer is because my skin started breaking out really badly because of renovations going on and the amount of dust in the air I guess. So, I decided to try out this moisturizer after reading raving reviews about it online.

The Clinique moisturizer contains Salicylic Acid which is good for killing off all those pimple causing bacteria on my skin. It cleared up most of my pimples in 1 week and even kept the shine on my face at bay. It also hydrates my skin very well!

Last but not least, Biotherm. I started using Biotherm since the age of 16 and it has been my ultimate favourite go to brand when I need hydration for my skin.

Biotherm moisturizer always makes my skin feel as if it has drank 8 glasses of water with just one application. It can keep my skin hydrated the whole day! This range is suitable for all skin types and it doesn’t break me out, which is awesome!

The reason why I stopped using Biotherm is because it is too expensive for me to keep buying their products but I’m lucky to get my hands on the sample sized ones which you can actually buy for a cheaper price at Lucky Plaza.

These moisturizers work wonders for me and I hope this review is useful for you ladies when deciding on which moisturizer to buy. But remember, different products produce different results for different people. So what works for me may not work for you.

the-makeup-blog:

  1. Picking your face:  We all do it, as soon as we get a pimple we feel the need to get rid of it.. and sometimes we try to rip it off. Usually blemishes only last about a week, but the redder or darker it is the longer it lasts. If it begins to scar use a banishing cream and wallah!
  2. Not washing your face at night: this one is simple. All the grease, bacteria and makeup from your day is not seeping into your pores and causing pimples and other nastiness, washing your face takes all the crap out and gives your face some time to breath. And it also prevents you from doing #1!
  3. Not Washing your brushes: I’ve heard a lot of makeup artists tell people to wash makeup brushes once a month…. WHAT- Would you eat with a fork that was washed only once a month? I wash my brushes at least once a week- this not only helps your brushes last longer but also helps your makeup apply better and more evenly. This step also prevents dirt and bacteria from building in the brushes and on the products and keeps your skin clean as well.
  4. Over Exfoliating: I’m a BIG TIME exfoliator- I love the squeaky feeling of a new layer of skin! (creepy?)  BUT - I exfoliate about 2-3 times a week. Every time you exfoliate you’re taking off all the dead skin that’s on your face/body, this is generally a good thing- it prevents, dehydration and flakiness and also reduces itching, over exfoliating not only get’s rid of this dead layer of skin but the new one under it and the new one under that. The cycle continues. The more you exfoliate the more damage you’re doing to your skin. This will cause your skin to become irritated and red- not a good look. So if you find your face becoming worse instead of better- think of how often you find yourself exfoliating.
